In many situations, it’s useful to show how much time is left until an item’s due date. That’s exactly what our “Due Date Countdown” widget is designed for.

Below, I’ll walk you through how to display a countdown for a date column in your dashboard. The example uses data from this board, but the same steps apply to any board.

You can also use filters to decide which items you want the widget to display.

  5. Under “Advanced settings,” you can customize the following options:

  • Column: Choose which date column to use for the countdown. If you leave this blank, the widget will look for a column named “due date.” If that doesn’t exist, it will use the first date column it finds.

  • Max Items: Set how many items should be displayed. Items are shown in ascending order based on their date column value.

  • Warning Color: Set the number of minutes before the due date when the countdown should change to a warning color (usually yellow).

  • Error Color: Set the number of minutes before the due date when the countdown should change to an error color (usually red).
